I always make sure I never run out of this Sicilian strattu (tomato paste). It’s so concentrated and enhances the flavor of anything I make it in. It’s essential in my kitchen and also my sisters. Growing up in post-WWII Detroit as the1st-born son of Sicilian immigrants I was blessed by the love of family, bathed in the taste, traditions, food & festivals of the "old country" and the ever-present soundtrack of the Sicilian language and our noisy loving family.Now, at age 75, nearly all the old voices have faded away and I find myself the patriarch & Manzu, the eldermost keeper of the old ways, the traditions, the recipes, the loud, loving sounds of family as we gather to eat & celebrate this Easter.Famous for my sauce, always, this year it was extra-special. This year it contained "strattu" and the 12-hour cooking time and slow-cooking methods of my Nonna came alive. My children & grandchildren tasted "Nonna's Sauce" as it was meant to be. Cousin's & the oldest of our own children, all paused with their first mouthful of pasta. "Wow! This tastes just like Nonna's (bis-Nonna's)!"Despite the annual accolades at holiday times, I always knew that a "secret ingredient" was missing. This year, when we sat down to celebrate Easter we were truly all together as one proud Sicilian family.All that was missing were the voices and the language of our courageous immigrant forefathers.For the oldest of us, the smells & flavors rekindled childhood memories.For the youngest, the old-country traditions & the love of family were planted in their 100% ethnically pure Sicilian souls.Thank you for the excellent quality "strattu,' for the old memories it evoked, and for the seeds of pride, heritage & tradition that were sown at our family's table this Easter.Possa Dio benedire te e la tua famiglia mentre vi riunite per celebrare la Pasqua. The only tomato paste I’ll buy going forward

Had to try it as soon as it arrived. 1/2 teaspoon of this Sicilian tomato concentrate EASILY replaces 3 tablespoons of Cento tomato paste, AND is even more flavorful!Unfortunately, I'm probably going to go thru this jar rather quickly... So, I will just have to buy another few jars!
