Essential shoe care product, delivers perfectly!
Shoe trees are one of the most fundamental elements of proper shoe care. After using your shoes for a full day (leather ones in particular), you should insert the shoe trees into them and ideally leave them for a day (wear a different shoe for the next day). This ensures that the shoe recovers from all the beating that it was put through during the course of the day, and also the cedar shoe trees help absorb any moisture and odour, leaving it with a new, fresh fragrance (effectively deodorise the shoe). Last, but not the least, shoe trees ensure that the shoes are always appropriately stretched out when not being worn and therefore they retain their shape for years to come.Build Quality and Aesthetics:Straight out of the box, they look extremely well made, and the metal handle/knob makes them look really expensive as well. The wood used is of high quality as well with a really smooth finish and has a really nice scent to it. The box does come with one shoe bag as well, but it's small and can only fit one shoe, rather than a pair, and therefore a bit pointless. However, for the shoe trees itself, the rating is 5/5Function:The shoe trees are perfect for the function described above. They have a spring mechanism in them which ensures that they stretch out according to the shoe size itself: not too strong as to distort the shape of the shoe itself, and neither too light so that it ends up not stretching the shoe at all. It provides the right amount of tension to ensure that the shoe is properly stretched out. The difference is clear to see: when I put them on in the morning, my feet easily glide into the shoes as its already been nicely stretched out for me. The metal handle makes it very easy to insert and remove them, so full marks for that as well 5/5Substitute products:If you are still unconvinced as to why you need a shoe tree, or why not opt for the plastic ones which are much much cheaper, or other wooden ones, then here is the answer: The plastic shoe trees will definitely help in keeping the shape of the shoe, but they won’t be able to absorb the moisture from the shoe, nor will they be able to deodorise the shoes like cedar shoe trees do (given their material i.e. plastic). Shoe trees serve two distinct functions, and plastic ones only serve one of those. Secondly, there are other wooden shoe trees available as well which have a wooden front but only a spring type mechanism at the back (see picture attached). Though they will do a decent job, the issue with them is that at the back they tend to stretch out the shoe more than necessary, and not in the correct shape either, causing the shoe to be a bit distorted. Therefore these shoe trees, though slightly expensive, are absolutely necessary for your wardrobe.Overall, I couldn’t be happier with them. 5/5

Best among 3 shoe tree pairs I compared
I bought 3 pair of shoe trees on Amazon to compare and select what will fit my 2 pairs of shoes: oxfords from M&S (size 8, standard dress shoe shape) and Loake Bedale boots (size 7, shorter but wider last + high ankle):1) Mens Aromatic Cedar-wood shoe-trees Mens UK size 7 to 7.5 (Cathcart Elliot) - £19.952) SEEADLER® Premium Shoe Trees - size 7 - £24.903) RaxCollection Cedar Wood Shoe Tree - size 07-RC41# EU41-42 / UK7.5-8 - £19.95First, all 3 pairs of shoe trees look, smell and feel good. They're all similar quality but Seeadlers are a bit less flimsy. Shape LOOKS very similar but it's not that easy here - read further.Cathcart Elliot - they're quite large for size 7. It was difficult but possible to put them into Loakes with fully squeezed spring, size for M&S was ok. The shape appeared to be the worst among the 3 pairs - they didn't straighten the creases on the oxfords while could break the form of the Loakes due to the very tight fit. I returned this pair.SEEADLER - solid build, not flimsy, unlike the 2 others. The shape of toebox is visibly higher than on the others. I found the shape ideal for the oxfords, size is just right (maybe 1/2 size bigger would be even better but the next size is 8-8.5 which seems to be too large). Interesting that I wasn't able to fit them into Loakes at all! They just don't go inside! Anyway, I keep them to use with oxfords as they fit like a glove.RaxCollection - this is the champion of my comparison. They ideally fit my Loake boots and fill the toebox straightening everything but not creating too much stretch. They're also perfect with the oxfords. I don't like the knob very much (the hook on Seeadlers is more convenient) but it seems to be enough to pull them out of a shoe. Size is ideal for both types of shoes too - a little tight but easy to insert and pull out.

Stunning Quality And They Not Only Protect And Preserve My Shoes They Show Them Off Beautifully
These RaxCollection Cedar Wood Shoe Trees are absolutely excellent in every way. They are precisely and exquisitely manufactured and protect and enhance my handmade Loakes Royal Brougues wonderfully. The smell they give off is exquisite and being Cedar Wood they absorb sweat and moisture from the inside of my shoes making them last longer and also neutralise any bscteria hence unpleasant smells. These are essential for quality shoes and need to be inserted to rest and reshape the shoes after wearing them and left in permanently. If you use your shoes on a daily basis put the shoe trees in as soon as you return home. I know the leather uppers and sole sides of my shoes are being cared for due to my careful application of Gold Label Dubbin (Black) priced at £8.99 (see my review for that excellent product) prior to standard wax shoe polish and now I can be certain the insides are similarly cared for and will be certain to keep their shape. I unreservedly recommend these RaxCollection Cedar Wood Shoe Trees and if you look at other reviews you will see some have compared these to the competition and conclude these truly seem the best of them all for fit, quality and craftsmanship. 5 stars awarded by me-and I do so with a beaming smile. These are the eigth pair I have bought as I have bought 6 pairs of Loakes Royal Brogues in Oxblood and Black and these shoe trees are exactly what they need to maintain their shape and ensure they remain in pristine condition. I bought two more pairs for my casual clarks shoes and boots to keep them in shape too! Worth every penny too.
