Looks like an original
Bought as a gift for elderly relative who likes anything WW1 WW2. Paper is very authentic and is the exact copy of the original paper for that day. The only one very small thing I would say is...it would have been better put inbetween tissue paper rather than a clear sealed bag, but all in all excellent value for money. Would buy again

World War One: Quality Source Material
This replica copy of the Daily News & Leader for August 5 1914, the first full day when Britainwoke up to find that we were at war with Germany, is good primary source material for all thosewith an interest in, or studying this era in British history. The banner headline reads "Great Britain At War With Germany" and the front page gives all ofthe available details.Printed as an 8 page broadsheet, we see statements by King George V and Prime Minister Asquithboth written and presented with much gravitas. Pictures of territorial army troops guardingrailway stations, the railways now under government control for the duration of hostilities, and articles about the panic buying of food in London shops all set the scene, along withphotographs of young men waiting to sign up to do their duty.As if to balance this wartime furore, there is on page 7, a full page advert from The NeutralityLeague urging people to write to their MP's, newspapers, indeed anyone who could be a spokesmanto keep Britain out of what they believe is "a wicked and stupid war".Newspaper life, however, seemed to go on as normal, adverts for those who wished to emigrate toAustralia, holidays in Great Yarmouth and the usual small ads for pills and potions abounded. This product is advertised as a Toy, nothing could be further from the truth. It is a window onthe world of 1914 and as such is an ideal teaching document.

WW1 kicks off
A very good repro of the day WW1 was declared. Apart from the obvious content, reading through the pages gives a fascinating insight into life in 1914, well worth having for that alone.

Getting more ideas for the exhibition
Absouloutly Brilliant. I’m organising an exhibition at our local community centre for the Centenary of the end of the First World War and this item is just ideal. I would recommend it to anyone. In fact I may order another one as one of the prizes for our commemorative Dance on the 10th November 2018
