Q: what is the air valve on this product used for?

The bags are watertight (seems like rubberized canvas to me) so they are also somewhat airtight. So when you roll the top shut, they could be a little more puffed up then you like. To get them to lay flatter, you can press them down and use the air valve to release that air. Just got them for this summer but I think that’s the idea. Cool quick release hooks and good material is why I’m keeping them though.

Q: Can it be used on front of bike?

I wouldn't recommend it - the clips are too small for handlebars and the length of the bag would cause it to run up against the front tire. I suppose you could make some DIY modifications to the bag - but in that case, you might as well purchase a bag meant for the front.

Q: I've seen people talk about the bag falling while riding down the road after bumps. Anything to recommend to keep that from being a possibility?

I've never had a problem with the bag falling down and my route to work is not on smooth pavement! It may happen more frequently if there is less in the bag and it's not secured on your rack. Again, I've never really had a problem with this, and I bike to work every day in NYC.

Q: What is the minimum tube diameter for the pannier attachment? Can it attach to 10 mm tubing?

Hello customer It can be placed on a frame with a diameter of 10 mm, with the red spacer it can still accommodate 11mm tubes, and the maximum diameter can be 18 mm.
