These stopped what tablets couldn't.
I bought these along with the Woody Knows Super Defense Nano Nose filters to see which was most effective. My wife suffers from hayfever and dust allergies which anti-histamines control most of the time, but for about six weeks each summer there is something in the air that the tablets and sprays don't have any effect on. She develops a terrible honking cough/sneeze which makes her completely miserable. She wasn't sure about sticking something in her nose as she was worried it might look a little strange. However, she soon stopped worrying about that when it became apparent that the filters stopped the problem immediately. It didn't take long to get used to it and she was happily wearing it to bed and also to work. It was just total bliss for her not to be coughing and sneezing all day - and for me not to have to listen to it or worry about her. The horrible six week period is over now so she doesn't need them any more this year but I'll definitely be buying a couple next year again. £11 seems a lot for a small piece of plastic but it's a very clever device and worth every penny if it stops this horrible problem without pouring stronger medication into my wife - plus they relieved me of the incredible frustration I felt over being powerless to help her during this annual sneezefest. She didn't notice any difference in performance between this one and the other WoodyKnows filters. This one is easier to breathe through and is a little more rigid than the other ones. You only get one though, at least the other filters give you a few replacement fillers but I'd have to say she preferred this one over the others. Fitting the filter is very easy but you need to make sure you get the right size and shape for your nostrils. The filter is pretty discrete and can't be seen apart from the little piece of plastic that goes between the nostrils. If you have air-borne allergies that tablets don't seem to help with then you should definitely give these a try.

Design flaw
I am a long time hay fever sufferer looking for a non medicinal solution. I had hoped this would be it sadly it's not. There are two main design flaws. The first is the bulk, the bulk makes it much more susceptible to movement. I found myself having to frequently reposition as the tip kept appearing. The second flaw is where the device actually sits in your nose. It is intended to be placed at the nostril section which tends to move whenever the simplest action was undertaken such as eating, talking or even exercising. When you combine the two main flaws it quickly becomes apparent that the device is not fit for purpose. I sincerely hope that the manufacturer heeds my feedback as I would like them to succeed and make a superior product. Perhaps one that goes slightly higher up the nose where the nasal bone does not flex as much and a slimmed design. Don't waste your money on this product.

A NOVEL AND CONVENIENT SOLUTION - BUT NOT NECESSARILY FOR EVERYONE
This appears to be an excellent product, unique, innovative - and technologically advanced, I would have thought; so why only three stars ? Because I had difficulty managing it - but my difficulties will not apply to the majority.Obviously, it is tiny, and the filters and other removable parts are, for all practical purposes, weightless as well ! So if, like me, you have large, arthritic, and less than steady hands, even unpacking the filters is highly problematical, let alone inserting them behind their retaining rings. Tweezers essential in any case, I would have thought. I managed it eventually without losing anything, only to find, when I took them out later, that, despite my best effots, I had succeeded in fitting one filter inefficiently, so that a gap had been left in one corner, seemingly through pushing too hard. If you share my dexterity problems, but have someone to fit them for you, you may well find them very helpful, and much more comfortable than a mask. Not for asthma sufferers, obviously. But in certain situations it might be preferable to a mask, nonetheless.

Effective preventative for allergies
I first bought the WoodyKnows Super Defence Nasal Filters and later bought these Ultra breathable Filters as I wanted to see what type worked best for me. The Super Defense filters are more powerful and provide 99% protection against pollen, dust, dander and mold and 90% protection against germs and PM 2.5. The Ultra Breathable filter provides 95% protection against pollen, 90% against dust and 65% against dander and mold. It appears to offer no protection against germs and PM 2.5. So I suppose which filter you choose depends on what your allergy is, how sensitive you are, and the extent to which you come into contact with your particular allergen. I am allergic to house dust mite and the danger time for me is in bed at night. I have opted to use the Super Defense filters overnight. I use the Ultra Breathable filter during the day if I am doing something which causes dust, such as vacuuming carpets, dusting or changing beds. I use the filters in conjunction with Haymax barrier cream which I find makes the filters easier to insert and more comfortable to wear. It also provides a 2nd level of protection. If I am in a safe, low dust environment, I find that I can get by with just the haymax barrier cream. In the case of the Super Defence filters I find that the main problem is that the disposable foam filters frequently fall out of the filter holder and this is very annoying. The Ultra Breathable filters have built in filters so there is nothing to fall out. This makes them much easier to wear. They are also much less visible. The Super Defence filters are much more obvious and I, personally, would not go out in public wearing them. Basically, the choice is up to the individual - possibly a bit of trial and error may be necessary. Overall, however, I do find both filters to be very effective.
