NewMarket Naturals April Shower Filter, Hand-Held/Massage Head Filter, White has sleek Design with Wide HeadREMOVES:98.9%of Chlorine& VaporsHydrogen SulfideIron Oxide (Rust) OdorsTraces of Heavy MetalsScale Build-UpMost people regard a hot shower or bath as one of life's little pleasures. However, what many don't regard is the danger of chlorine in the water. Although chlorine is universally used to disinfect water, it is not safe for drinking, showering or bathing. A NewMarket Naturals shower and bath filter utilizes KDF technology as the filtration media. KDT is a compound of granulated copper and zinc that removes chlorine, iron oxides, hydrogen sulfide and traces of heavy metals. It is a bateriostatic media that inhibits the growth of E. coli, mold and other bacteria. KDF in the presence of hot water literally becomes catalyzed to perform more efficiently; And, therefore, is the most efficient, state-of-the-art technology for shower and bath filtration.Did you know that you absorb more chlorine from your shower than from your drinking water? Well not anymore. Say goodbye to chlorine in your shower forever with the April Shower Hand-Held Filter. The April Shower Hand-Held Filter offers both stationary and hand-held positions perfect for family and pets. It adjusts to various heights and angles making it an ideal shower filter for all people.

Not adjustable, cheaply made
I just got this hand held shower and I am very disappointed. I had high hopes for it because it sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. I tried to attach the small piece that attaches to the spout that comes out of the wall (where the water comes out), but if I turned it as tight as it was supposed to go, then the actual part where the hand held shower sits in it is sideways. So imagine the hand held shower going out sideways from the holder because that how it would have to sit! (if it would even stay in that way which I doubt!) I tried more than once to attach it to see if it would screw on properly and be at the correct angle for the hand held shower piece to sit in it. But the same thing happened. I could not tighten it all the way or the part where the shower sits in it was up at the side. I've had hand held showers before that have an adjustable piece that attaches to the pipe in the wall. That piece could tighten or loosen independently of the rest of that part that the hand held shower sits in. But this particular one is cheaply made and you can't separately adjust that part. Also, although it looks like chrome, that piece is actually made of plastic.Update: I bought a hand held shower mount piece at Home Depot. This one adjusts so I could get the shower to sit upright at the proper angle. The other problem I have with this shower is the hose STINKS!! Some gross (probably toxic) chemicals in the plastic hose which really smell bad. I washed it twice with soap and hot water, but it still smelled! I ended up buying a chrome shower hose which is SOOOO much better!! No smell. As for the water, I do notice a difference which I like. It is nice not to have all the harsh chlorine and other chemicals in the water. So I am pleased with that fact. The reason why I didn't give this a higher rating is because it is cheaply made and I had to replace most of the thing just to be able to use it. I should have just looked for a chrome one from the beginning and spent a little more money. I ended up spending more money anyway to replace parts of this one! I would definitely recommend getting a chrome hand held shower with filter instead of this plastic one unless you are going to replace the hose which really stinks and I'm sure the chemicals coming off of it are not safe!

Its good, but it will break on you
I owned my unit for a few years, so its not like the other guys complaining about it breaking after a couple months. My unit broke the first time where the 'holder' is, that came from general use/but no abuse. A piece at local store managed to be an exact replacement so I was none to hindered about that. The second and terminal breakage happened today when I tried to unscrew the hose from the head and it complete came apart, as in the plastic had completely dis-bonded from itself where it begins to thread for the hose. This is pretty **** poor in my opinion, plastic should not erode or disintegrate like this. I am glad I got as much use out of it as I did, but the plastic used for this product is not up to spec, it cannot handle the abuse of even just retaining a hose.

Filters do not replace easily
I purchased two of these shower heads and extra replacement filters in May of 2011. Up until now I have really liked them.I have replaced the filters as directed every 4 months and in both cases the filters slipped out of the shower heads easily. Suddenly this past week one of the shower heads began to leak from small cracks in the filter cartridge container. You could barely see where the cracks were coming from.It was time to order new filters anyway, so I ordered an extra shower head and extra filters again. When I went to remove the filters they had swollen and would not come out of the cartridge container even with pliers. They had expanded to the extent that they caused the minute cracks to form. Keep in mind that I had already easily replaced the filters at least twice. So I don't know whether to put the blame on the filters or on the cartridge container. It appears to me that the filters have been remanufactured from the original versions - even the packaging is different and the original filters were housed in blue plastic with a notice to suggest that they be turned over every 30 days - the new ones are in a clear packaging and they swell when wet causing the filter cartridge container to break apart. So I am stuck with three shower heads that I paid $40 a peice for and extra cartridges that cause the shower heads to weep and crack.

Great shower head, terrible shower hose
I read that a chlorine filter in your shower can help significantly with skin conditions that get irritated by the things normally found in facet water, so I decided to try this out. The shower head itself is fantastic, the difference in water quality is immediately noticeable! However the hose, not so great. Within two months the cheap plastic that attaches the hose to the head cracked so badly because of my good water pressure that it literally started spraying water out of the sides. This left the entire shower unit unusable until I replaced the hose with a much better quality metal hose with metal connection between the hose and shower. Now it's perfect. Unfortunately finding a hose with the correct connection at both ends was not easy or cheap, and I live in NYC where you're supposed to be able to find anything you want. Several actual plumbing supply stores told me the hose would be difficult to find and they weren't wrong. The new hose ended up costing me as much as this entire shower unit did originally, I've now doubled the cost. So my advice would be if you see a chlorine filtered shower unit on this site or anywhere else that is made better you might want to save yourself the headache and buy that one instead, even if it's more expensive. Because chances are you'll have to buy a new hose for this one anyway. That said, let me reiterate that I have no complaints with the filter. It's great. Take your chances if you dare.
