Waterman Charleston Black GT Fine Point Fountain Pen - 30046

I did a lot of research online and was impressed by the uniformity of the reviews here on Amazon.It was all worth it. It looks beautiful with a nicely lacquered barrel (another reviewer thought it was "plasticky" but it's simply very smooth and light) and is just the right size and weight in my hand (I have relatively small hands for a man so this is important). The flow is very smooth through the nib and the pen glides on the page.The pen "looks" very elegant with just the right amount of gold banding and highlighting--not simple but also not extravagant.I highly recommend this pen as an intermediate option for a person already used to using a fountain pen who wants to go to the next level without breaking the bank.

I just received this pen and while I haven't used it for a long period of time yet, I'm pretty impressed. I tend to write small and needed the fine-tip nib, and was looking for a daily writer. It writes extremely well, even for my small handwriting. It's very smooth -- as I'm writing, there seems to be almost no friction between the nib and paper. It almost doesn't feel like a fountain pen it's so smooth.I only knock off one star because this pen has a plastic shell and feels kind of cheap. I prefer a heavier pen, either made from wood or metal and maybe Waterman has one like that.

This is an excellent writing instrument, my first fountin pen with gold nib, it writes very smoothly ink flows uniformly, it is a great value pen! Nice size, perfectly balanced in the hand. I will try the Waterman Edson next.

Smooth writing, quality instrument, although is a bit more "plastic-y" than I had anticipated. Not as solid-feeling as my old Mont Blanc pen, but still a handsome alternative to the ubiquitous ballpoint.

In this price range you would be hard pressed to find a pen costing hundreds more that writes better. It's a beautiful pen and as with all Waterman pens I have yet to own one that had to be returned due to scratching. I own both the black and Ivory and have to tell you everyone falls in love with the Ivory, it's different, it's color is unique and the gold appointments puts it in a class of its own. I still long for the day I can bring myself to purchase the Montblanc Le Grand 149 for $700. LOL, that's a lot of money for a pen.As with any fountain pen it's important to note the longer you write with it the better it performs as the point conforms to your writing technique and remember it's not a good idea to let another use your pen. I've always believed nothing writes as well as a fountain pen and it's a shame we're not permitted at work to use them for legal signatures. Dohhh! If the cartridge that draws the ink should go, simply wrap the threads with plumbers silicone tape and fill the entire barrel up with ink. That worked great with an older Japanese fountain pen, refilling is rare, LOL.Ricky

A very good pen. This one is for my wife, I already have one and use it daily for the past 5 years.

This is one of the best pens for the money. It write as good as a Montblanc at less than half of it's price. A winner.
