This thing is amazing. My baby is breastfed and sleeps through the night at 2 months old. I do believe that the white noise machine contributes to her restful sleep and lack of other noise distractions around the house. The white noise machine drowns out other noise. We use it every nap and at nighttime. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

It works great. Good selection of different ambient noises. I have the round one. I wish it didn't have touch control, I had to put tape near the buttons so I could operate it in the dark.

Easy to operate, small footprint. Yes, sounds are realistic. So much so that the bird calls option had my cats looking in the area near the machine - for the birds. Switched to bubbling water sound which was relaxing and didn't bother cats at all. Used it for the first time last night and definitely had an improved night's sleep.

I've lived with this thing for a year now and just ordered something different to replace it. I agree with some of the other top negative reviews written about this Avantek sound machine.1 - The sounds are NOT non-looping. You might not hear the looping if the volume is low, but if you need moderately loud noise to help you sleep, you can't fail to notice the loops. Furthermore, you can also hear what I can only describe as other odd sound "artifacts" within the sound that are unpleasant and confusing when you first notice them.2 - The bright power light is extremely annoying, especially when the unit is on your nightstand and you prefer a dark room to sleep. I had to resort to covering it up.3 - The usb power cable is susceptible to disengaging power to the unit with the slightest jostling. It will appear to be connected properly, but will need you to fiddle with it to get the connection working properly again. While the unit will run off the built in battery, it usually won't last all night and you may wake up to silence because it's stopping working.4 - The touch sensitive controls are impossible to see in low light / darkness, which is not helpful when you want to make a quick volume adjustment in the middle of the night. The controls are also very sensitive and all too easy to accidentally activate.I regret this purchase and advise others to avoid it.

Update: It has been over a month since I purchased this and I have found that it is not really to my liking.Pros: Small size, has several different sounds but I like the white noise ones best and most of them have a looping undertone which does not work for me. There is 1 I like to use.The same sound you left it as comes back on when turned on after being turned off.Backup battery.Cons: *Only one white noise sound does not contain the looping noise.*Way too sensitive to touch, too easy to change the sound from one to another*The on-off is under the device, which means I can easily change the sound or volume or turn on the timer when I don't mean to.* There is no indicator to tell what sound you are on at any given time. You just have to touch forward or backwards until you find the sound you want.I have ordered a different device I hope will work better for me. This one will be a back up.

Meh. It’s fine for traveling if you cannot bring a fan, but I wouldn’t spend money on this product again. Sometimes you can hear sounds within the white noise sounds. The “buttons” or lack thereof, work about 1/3 of the time.Stick with a box fan. Tacky, maybe.... but they do the best job for white noise.

I am a Vet with PTSD so I tend to jump at abrupt noises. I bought one of these sound machines last winter to tune out the noise next door and loved it so much that I bought another....with yet another on my list! I have very noisy neighbors-we share a wall and they tend to slam doors downstairs when I'm asleep which has woken me a few times through the night prior to buying this machine along with some ear plugs (which I only use now on weekends when they party). I have one of these in each bedroom-the spare one shares a wall, my room doesn't. I barely hear them and it's only when they get rough or slam their outside door at night or early morning and that doesn't bother me anymore. I have another machine in the plans which will be for downstairs kitchen counter as there is noise from their basement door closing which is in the kitchen, again sharing a wall. All features of this machine work as described. I couldn't be happier and am much more at ease.

I want to love this white noise machine but I do not. However I do like it enough to keep it with some slight irritations.Pros: It's compact & light weight, very easy to use - you can figure out how to use the entire range of options without the owners manual, has a great range of sounds- more than I expected, and the sound quality is pretty good.Cons: Battery only last 2 nights without needing to be recharged. Maybe it's just my unit but the recharging jack is very tight and I almost feel like I'm damaging the unit when I remove it. The green or red light is quite bright (I put a cloth over it) and kind of annoying. But biggest Con to me is that the controls have no feel to them so if you need to adjust something in the middle of the night you have to turn on the light or fumble around hoping you hit the right spot.
