Upon arrival didn't really have a chemical smell but I let it air out for two days as per instructions. For me this mat is prefect. wide enough that all my floor activities is inside the mat, unlike most less-wide mats. The cushioning also suits. If anything it's on the thick side but manageable and for me that's preferable than too thin. It comes with bands to hold it rolled up when put away. No qualms about recommended this mat.

This is indeed an oversized mat in both area and thickness. It is super comfy and gives me the cushion I need when I do poses on my knees especially. I really like the oversized aspect, but if you go to an impacted class and don't want stares from others because you are taking up extra space, then this is not the mat for you. If you like to have an extra cushion of space between you and the person next to you, then you NEED this mat.

Great Product and exactly the size as advertised ! I had posted an earlier review where I was mistakenly stating that it was not the size that was advertised.., I was wrong! This is a great mat and I am trying to get a faster delivery on a second one right now!

Perfect size for me as I am all over the mat.

This is a seriously heavy-duty yoga mat. It offers significantly more padding than normal mats, which can range anywhere from 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch. At a full half inch, this gives a lot more comfortable support, especially for a 240lb adult male. I use it on a very thin, almost industrial level carpet that is hard as a rock, and it makes it bearable, which my normal mats can't do. Between that and the massive dimensions, it's a big win. There are a few minor negatives though. First off, it's a bit expensive. But considering it's probably 3-4 times as much material as a regular mat, it's not that off base. And it does seem to be a very sturdy material. That brings me to the other issue. This doesn't seem to be the same type of material as a typical mat. It had a different chemical smell when I first opened it, which was pretty strong. It's gone away after a couple weeks, but it was a bit off-putting initially. Still, taking that vs potentially years of good service, I'm still quite pleased with it overall.

We've all been there, combing through Amazon trying to mentally picture how thin or thick a yoga mat is and if it's a good buy. My experience has been letting my daughter pick one up at Target or Walmart. I have come to expect that a yoga may will be thin, prone to ripping and not worth much more than some grippy socks.Imagine my surprise when I came home to find the Hatha Yoga Extra Long 1/2" mat waiting for me. Let me tell you, this has changed my opinion of what a yoga mat can and should be, Does it cost about 4 times what a useless Walmart or knock off import mat would set you back You betcha. Will it make you open to stretching out on your living room floor and doing those exercises that your doctor / physical therapists have been bugging you about? Absolutely.I think it is crazy that we spend so much on gym glasses, yoga studios, pilates classes, etc and then we cheap out on home equipment. If you are going to splurge this year, do it on this. Just look at my photo and observe the collossal size difference between a regular yoga pad and this beauty! The pink thing is the roller tube my PT lady likes to torture me with. Before I ordered this pad, I was doing stretches on that silly, useless mat and crashing onto my hard tile floor each time. Pain does not beget wanting to exercise. This pad not only cushioned my dismount from the roller but it helped keep it from getting away from me. It is grippy, just the right amount of soft versus dense and I can stretch out completely without my feet hanging off.This mat comes well packed. Despite the warning label acknowledging that it may need to air our for a few days, there was no odor upon unwrapping. This is a very professional operation. It is made well, packed well and shipped well.If I could give this ten stars, I would in a heartbeat. Hatha - you rock my zen.

This yoga mat is huge! It's exactly what I needed to replace the thin neoprene mat I had that was hurting my knees on my wood floors. This provides much better cushioning for my bony joints and gives a lot of room to help avoid constant repositioning while working out. I'm pretty short, but I'm not super flexible, so anything to make it easier is better for me.The thicker mat is also [hopefully] good for reducing the sound when setting weights down or if I drop the Pilates bar on it. I'm sure our downstairs neighbors appreciate it.Obviously with the larger size the thickness comes a LOT more bulk. There's no way this would be something I would carry with me somewhere on the train or bus if I had a class to go to that required me to bring my own gear. It's too wide and heavy when rolled up, so I'd still need a "portable" option. It does come with a couple of elastic bands to help keep it rolled up when not it use. Make sure to watch for those when you unroll it the first time in a little plastic pouch.There was naturally some odor from a foam mat after unboxing, but you have to let *any* foam product air out after being wrapped up. This is normal and it smells like a typical yoga mat to me after airing out some. The material is similar to what many foam flipflops are made of - It has that firm, but bouncy cushiony support, and feels like it should definitely be durable. The only concern with TPE and any other similar rubber/plastic material can be phthalates, but if this has been tested with SGS, the product should hopefully be within acceptable limits.I like that it's not covered with some ridiculous pattern, it's just plain simple solid with the brand logo. Nice. Would happily recommend to someone looking for a really upgraded mat for their home gym or studio. It looks really professional, so it wouldn't be out of place in a pro studio setting - I'd be impressed if I took a class that was all outfitted with a matching set of these.

Einfach nur perfekt mit gut 2m x 1m und 1,27cm Dicke!Riecht am Anfang zwar leicht, aber nicht schlimm.Riecht nach 1 Woche kaum noch.Perfektes Druckgefühl. Wirkt am Anfang hart, ist aber genau richtig....Würde nicht mehr kaufen....aber für alte Opas und Omas mit kaputten Gekenken gibt es die Matte von der gleichen Firma auch doppelt so dick mit 2,5cm.Man kann sie auch als Schalafunterlage zum campen und zelten nutzen.Genial!Mir ist unverständlich warum ich sie aus der USA bestellen musste und es diese Qualität nicht in Europa gibt! Hab 1 Jahr danach gesucht!Ich muss jetzt als Deztscher Kunde wirklich mal sagen das es viele gute Produkte wie diese Matte hier in Deutschland nicht gibt und ich sie extra von Amazon USA einkaufen musste. Das hatte ich auch schon bei anderen Produkten die es Weltweit nur in USA und Südkorea gab....
