Works just fine for my purposes...measuring moisture content in firewood. If I was measuring wood to make fine kitchen cabinetry, I may have a different opinion. But for firewood, the readings are sufficiently consistent. It has four setting for different types of wood. For most "hardwoods" used for firewood, Mode C is what I use. For the money, this meter is best bang for the buck compared to others on Amazon. Satisfied customer.

This was a very helpful tool and much less expensive than getting the disaster company to come. the water heater had a bad leak and it ran from the attic through the walls three floors. I found this and it arrived next day. I used it to find where the water problem was. I did some mitigation work myself. Set up fans and began drying. Over a weeks time the device gave me a read on how it was going. Isn't that what you want? Yes it is! Quick easy and low cost. (PS Home Depot doesn't stock this kind of thing. The staff had no idea what I was looking for.)

There are many kinds of woods listed I have never heard of, but when I see your verbiage above written in Chinglease I understand. No disrespect intended, I learned this term in China from local Chinese.It seems to work well but I have no simple way to calibrate this meter, so I guess any reading is better than none at all. Overall I am happy with this instrument.

I've only used this product a couple of times but it has helped me to judge the type of wood that I'm buying wood off of a farmer who has it stacked in his barn and I was always curious as to see whether or not it was too wet but so far so good.

This does what it says. For a handyman it is nice addition when looking for water issues and trying to determine how bad.

While this meter may be less accurate than some of the far more expensive meters, for my small woodworking shop it is perfect! Cutting wet wood on a power saw can be dangerous and this moisture meter keeps me safe! Great product, easy to use and pretty accurate as far as I can tell. If you use reclaimed wood or rough cut timber, pick one of these up and give yourself some peace of mind when working with wood from unknown sources!

I heat with hard wood, too dry burns too quickley; tooo much morsture, burns to slowly with smole and creasote.
