Go out and buy!
Came home in the wee small hours after a gig, put on the TV and was flicking through the detritus to wind down and spotted The Old Grey Whistle Test, which in itself was brilliant, as I remember avidly waiting for it every week as I discovered rock music in the early seventies. Anyway, I must have missed this particular episode and I was totally knocked out by Dave Evans' performance of Sad Pig Dance. What a totally amazing and sadly, overlooked guitarist. So after watching several, I ordered the CD. I have to say it's just beautiful to hear the skill. I googled Dave Evans, who is now a luthier, doing the occasional gig here and there...he's definitely on my must see list!

British Folk Blues from 70's Bristol
I'm not much of a folky, let alone a guitarist, but years ago I actually saw Dave Evans perform live doing some of these, eyes closed with a beatific smile on his face! His skills, I can confirm, were all him and no digital enhancements would be necessary. This reissued CD is all bluesy folk rhythmic finger-picking guitar, all original and every one of the numbers is fascinating and beautiful to hear. I'd mention Bert Jansch, Donovan, Nick Drake etc, and you might think he's but a slight reflection of those giants. I'm sure he had his influences but he copied no-one. He never got famous simply because he didn't live in London, just like a thousand and one other brilliant musicians all over the country then and now. Neither did he kowtow to the demands of the buying public. Class.

Amazing
Amazing finger work, superb folkish guitar - if you want to revel in exceptional acoustic guitar music this outstanding album is a must buy. Play it on a decent separates system, close your eyes and enjoy the elegance of Mr Evans exceptional talent.A great album.

An overlooked work of art.
Beautiful guitar music from this unassuming Welsh musician. Such a pity he didn't become more widely-known at the time. Last I heard he was happy living in Belguim and making/repairing guitars. Chwarae teg Mr Evans.

Dave Evans - a True Guitar Star
I saw this guy by chance on a TV programme and bought this album - the quality of Dave's playing is amazing - dare I say it easily outstrips some of the popular guitar "gurus". A must for anyone who is serious about acoustic guitar.

An amazing guitar player
First saw Dave on a BBC program about "Riffs on the BBC" recently. Wow, this guy can play! I don't know why he's never gone across my radar before - just fantastic playing.
