PD Magnetic Coal/Log/Wood burning Stove Pipe Thermometer

I got one of these to optimise fuel use in my log burner (which also has a back boiler). It is unobtrusive and mostly black so looks fine on the stove pipe. Angle of the needle indicator is all you need to see. It shows when you have enough heat generation for a clean burn to avoid excessive tarring of the exhaust and if you try really hard when you are overheating it (not really possible with a water jacket back boiler). There is a thin metal safety wire to hold it on if you are in the habit of over heating the system to the point where the magnet fails. Obviously it gets hot when in use.

Bought this after reading several reviews on stove thermometers,its easy to read clock face is a great little guide on how to get the best from your burner, only gripe I had was the wire that came with it, was just a coiled up,knotted piece of wire that couldn't be used so I had to use fuse wire instead,also after first use the magnet that supports the thermometer has lost its magnetic use,a bit pointless having this really,but still a good little device, hence 3 stars

Surprisingly the magnet still works after many fires (Magnetism and heat do not normally mix).Useful to see what your log burner is up to and saves money if you are running it too hot. I have never got ups to the 'optimum' temperature though, maybe my fire is not big enough. My installer said that some of his customers had said that their fires were not very hot - the simple answer is to put more logs on - more logs - more heat - 'simples'.One tip for dirty fire glass. On a COLD glass NOT HOT, take a kitchen towel and wet it, dip it in the ash in the ash tray and then carefully clean the glass with it not too hard. Then dry it before lighting the fire. Do it regularly and the glass will be easier to clean next time. Will clean of most of the soot, heavy staining usually comes of after hot fires.

Would not hold on to our flue pipe and after trying to use the wire tie to try and keep it in place, the wire broke. We then kept it just at the bottom of the flue and after 2 weeks it now does not work at all. I'd send it back for a refund if I the time.

Does what it says on the box and it came at a good price to ever since i have had this put on my burner runs perfect and it's value for money to and a good make to worth the buy guys

I choose this one it seemed much better than the one I had before which never lasted very long. The deliver was fast and so far the thermometer doing the job well. Thank you seller

Not very well made mine fell to pieces

This is a poor product as didn't register correct temperature so was returned to sender. It looked partly rusty on one corner when I received it.
