NKJV Life Application Study Bible: New King James Version
S**.
The greatest devotional resource I have ever owned
This is my fourth copy. The other three are worn out. Been using this resource for ten years now. Each of the 365 daily readings starts with a paragraph from one of Oswald Chambers' works, which is chosen to connect with the one of the Bible passages which follows. There follows four readings, from OT, Psalms, Proverbs and NT, interspersed with quotes from some of OSwald 's other writings, to aid reflection on the text. It's like reading the Bible together with a wise old man. For anyone unfamiliar with Mr Chambers, he was I believe the most gifted BIble teacher of his generation, like a man who has spent years ridge-walking, he knows the landscape he is describing so thoroughly and intimately, his wisdom will leave you staggered, and enlightened. For those who want to read the whole, Bible in a year, I can only say that this book has encouraged me to do so at least 7 times now (I've lost count now!) The NEw KIng JAmes version used is an excellent translation, too: a good compromise between readability and literal rendering. He can be very, sometimes unfathomably deep, but that's what growth is about. I'm not going to be outgrowing this book! One criticism: the paper cover and binding is very flimsy, hence this being my 4th copy in ten years. HArdback editions available from US for around £15 inc. Postage

Life Application Study Bible NKJV
I found the bible a great start to my studies, the New King James Version English better to understand, than the Old English Authorised King James version, that have been using, but did not lose sense of the meanings. The bible commentary and maps was very helpful for a beginner, plenty of info with date guides on the top. But might be annoying with too much commentary to some one.Single column layout alright but can be broken by commentary, but the only thing did not like was the page numbers where on the inside of the page. The commentary can make it harder to find a chapter or verse if listening to others as commentary cause you to get lost?I found the commentary made helpful with a introduction page on each gospel and did not make many claims to a specific denomination. But might be completely annoying with too much commentary to some one, but worth having that want to but the bible in your life. The bible is heavy, its large, if you are on the go, it might be worth investing in a pocket bible. The hardback cover is fine, but worth investing in a bible cover to protect such a big book as thickness of the pages could get damaged.

This is amazing. It helps me make sense of a complex ...
I'm new to the Bible, so I needed something special. This is amazing. It helps me make sense of a complex subject, and answers my questions. I decided on the NKJV and I'm very pleased. I saw the hard copy of this in a Christian book shop but I would chose the Kindle version as it's so easy to navigate, and very handy.

Great Book but missing X-ray
On the Kindle this contains all the bible resources one could ever need including a reading plan. I would however like to see the X-ray feature added.

Life Application rules
I love the Life application series, I have three different study bibles in this series, comes with maps, footnotes and a concordance; what more could you ask for? Recommend highly.

Extremely pleased.
Extremely pleased with this as I have found it to be very good in application studies. But as with all of God's Word, it is not what people have written but the Holy Spirit alone who brings it to life.

Good Bible
Good Bible, the study seems to try to hold to what the bible says, not pushing an agenda. In my experience

Great Study Bible
I have owned the hard copy version of this Bible for about 4 years and really like it. Love the maps, study notes, and character profiles. With all the features it is quite a bulky Bible...I just purchased the Kindle E-book version and it is awesome. I am primarily using it on a Kindle paperwhite and have also tried it on a 7" tablet with the Android Kindle App. Each verse that has a study note is identified by the verse number being an underlined link. Study notes are easily accessed by selecting the link, then you get back to the verse through another link on the notes page. Maps are clearly readable on the paperwhite and can be enlarged by pressing and holding on the map, then selecting the magnifying glass that pops up. These look awesome on the 7" tablet's color screen. Love being able to adjust the font size too.Navigating between books is fairly easy on the Kindle Paperwhite and the tablet. Menu, Go-to, Then scroll through the books of the bible. Once you choose the book, you can select a chapter to start in, then flip the pages to get to the specific verse you are looking for. I wasn't able to get the search function to work like one of the other reviewers said to jump right to a specific book, chapter, verse (i.e. Mt 6 4). It is still a lot easier and faster than trying to finger through the hardcopy anyway. All the cross references are easily followed via links inserted at the end of the verse. The best part: it is so portable you will have your Bible with you everywhere. This solved the only drawback I had with the printed version.

Wonderful choice, but be careful which one you buy
The Life Application Study Bible is a wonderful resource for anyone who wants to delve deeper into God's word. TONS of notes, cross-references, maps, and charts to help you understand not just the written word, but the CONTEXT in which it was written. Non-believers love to toss out one or two scriptures they have memorized out of context to justify sin. Christians, we need to know the Bible better than the enemy and a good study Bible really helps. *gets down from soapbox*I have been using the Kindle version of the NIV for years, both on iPhone and on my Samsung tablet, and I have found the interface and navigation easy to use. I can't disagree more with 99% of the bad reviews of the Kindle edition.I recently decided to purchase an old-fashioned paper copy. Now, here is where the buyer needs to beware. There are multiple versions of multiple translations available on Amazon. There are hardcover, genuine leather, bonded leather, leather-like, and Kindle editions of the NIV, KJV, NKJV, and NLT translations. There a different sizes and large-print versions too.Amazon, in it's infinite wisdom, has lumped all the user reviews for all the versions in one place. I mistakenly bought the hardcover, textbook-like version because I saw photos on a review that made it seem like I was buying a leather-like version. My mistake, I should have paid more attention. So I returned the first one, went to a Barnes and Noble and compared each version to make sure I was ordering the correct item. Then I went on Amazon and got it $10 cheaper than at B&N.I have the NKJV leather-like version. It's BIG and heavy so if you want something smaller, they do offer a personal sized edition that seems like it would be easy to carry around.
