Indie Boards and Cards IBGFPTE1 Flash Pt. Tragic Events Expansion

As a huge fan of the base game Flash Point I was quickly on board with getting this expansion. I figured more of this game is better. The base game flows quickly while giving you the sense that you need to hurry the heck up. This is what you want in a game like this and why I liked it so much. I want to feel that pressure of the fire spreading quickly and the sense of urgency when saving victims or putting out fires. Unfortunately for me I felt that this expansion slows the game down. My party group found that reading the actions on the cards and then deciding what to do really slowed the game to a crawl making it much longer. Some of the action cards have interesting events like throwing a fire grenade into a space for a deck gun type effect or a broken fire hydrant which cause the fire deck gun to be useless on a designated space. But some of the cards have like four actions that a player needs to take in one turn. As I would read the actions out when it was my turn I found the other players were completely taken out of the game. The game then felt like a chore and the fun was extinguished for me.However there are some good things about this expansion. It comes with several three new specialists and more points of interest.tokens. The specialist are great. The Fire prevention specialist can move smoke for one action point. The strategist can move another player for one action point. The Suppression specialist suppresses fie that he is adjacent too. For example if you roll an advance fire near a space he is adjacent too then nothing happens. He also has a very over powered ability in which for one action space he can change the die roll of an advance fire roll. I do play the base game with the new specialists and it is fun with them.

Fantastic to have the changes this small expansion makes - much more thematic/eventful.Only oddity is I don't know why we get the three specialized minis since we don't have minis for the base game roles. Would be ok if you only played one role per game but since you switch out AND they are all the same color we have never used them.

I like the new mechanics of this expansion, before we had this expansion, our group of 4 could easily beat the game on the highest difficulty. After using this expansion, I felt like this was hard, and more stressful. I like how the game rewards you for thinking ahead of time. We also learn to cooperate much better.NEW POI, firefighters and figurines.I would recomend if you like something new to add into Flashpoint

I love the addition of the fire and event decks. I wont play without them now. The 4 new roles are alright, adds more variety to the game. The new POIs present a challenge, as the "heavy" victim cost double to move, the elderly man has a oxygen tank that will explode is he catches fire, and a couple more. All together this created a new standard way to play.

This has been my favorite expansion so far. Replacing the flare ups with the fire deck and event cards creates a whole new game and adds much more replay value to the game than the other expansions I have played. Additionally, this expansion is compatible with all other expansions (that predate this one) with event cards that are applicable only if you are playing a specific expansion.

Great quality and a must have for the Fire Poi t Game. it improves the fire spread mechanic and feels like a story telling more than random fires appearing.

This is yet another great expansion for Flash Point: Fire Rescue that adds a lot of variety to even oft-played boards.

This is a great game once you’ve played it and really understand what you’re doing. The rules are long, but once you know what you’re doing it’s great! I’ve bought a few of the other games in the series too now.
