No need to choose between bear and critter protection. The Ursack AllMitey protects your food from all creatures great and small. While our standard S29.3 AllWhite resists being torn by bears, it is prone to small (less than 1/4 inch) punctures/weave separations. The AllMitey is virtually puncture proof. Not only will it keep out bears teeth and claws it will thwart mice, raccoon, squirrels, pine martens and other sharp toothed critters. It is made with a patent pending laminated process that combines the Spectra used in our S29.3 and Kevlar correctional fabric--the kind used in prisons to thwart shivs. The laminated part of the AllMitey is also water resistant. The seams, unless treated with seam seal, could leak..THE ALLMITEY WEIGHS 13 OUNCES--ALMOST TWICE THE WEIGHT OF OUR S29.3 ALLWHITE--BUT MUCH LESS THAN ANY CANISTER.The inner bag, when sealed with the closure, will hold about the same amount of food as our S29.3 AllWhite--650 cubic inches.. If packed only with freeze dried food, it will about hold about 35 servings of breakfast, lunch and dinner–six days of food for two people. There is a bit of additional storage space above the hook and loop fastener and under the cord enclosure, but this area offers less protection while still preventing bears from getting a food reward. The AllMitey comes with an integrated six foot, high tensile strength, cord, which is designed to secure the opening and allow it to be tied to a fixed object like a tree branch. Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee certified No. 5135. Note: Due to the difficulty in weaving high tech Spectra, our supplier is not always able to deliver pristine white fabric (the only color available). Your Ursack may arrive with minor cosmetic blemishes. You won't see these once you have used Ursack in the wilderness, and these in no way compromise the performance of the product. Some units may have different color thread or rope than those pictured. NOTE: SOME WILDERNESS AREAS REQUIRE HARD SIDED CANISTERS.

Good weight value
If you are considering buying this, you likely know what you're getting. It's 2x the price of a plastic can and 1/3 the weight. It is crushable, but the varmints (big and small) won't get your food. It can fit easier in your pack, because it is soft sided. It won't serve as a handy camp seat.I live in the west, but not in central california, so the limitations (current anyway, 4/2017) in Yosemite and Kings/Sequoia don't apply. It's a stiff fabric. The seams are thick and well sewn. The Velcro closure has a tiny bit of trouble full sealing all the way over the very think seam at the edges. I doubt this affects performance in the slightest, it isn't meant to be water tight at the opening, and velcro isn't water tight anyway. The bag bottom has a more rectangular shape than cylindrical. The gussets are pretty thick. It is about 4 to 6 inches at the thickest point on the bottom, and it will stand on it's own, empty, unsupported, but only if carefully balanced.I think it'll last a lifetime of occasional use, and not having to wait in a ranger line to check out a can is pretty awesome.

Great product
Great quality and very durable. The Velcro lining for the critter proof liner was legit. Even challenging for me to pull apart! Took this backpacking and it was awesome as it took up MUCH less space than a comparable volume capacity hard plastic container. Only negative is your stuff can still get squashed (I believe there is some liner you can get if this is a problem though.. I do not have this). Rope on it would not be long enough to hang from a tree but could probably tie around a smaller trunk or low branch. Overall very pleased with this. Glad I went with this vs just the bear reaistant one. Loved the critter proof liner part.

Like, with lots of room.
Light, and a bit stiff. I was able to cram 4 days of food into the bag. I would like the "critter" material on the outside, instead of inside. Chippys will naw at the white until they hit the barrier on the inside. Needs to be the other way around?

A must buy for hikers and solo canoe trippers!
I do like this bag. No longer do I need to worry about hanging a bear bag... just use this and tie it to a tree. I mostly use mine with dehydrated food, of which it can hold a lot, especially if you pack your own meals, or repack store bought meals. Sure, I do wish it was maybe half again as big, but it works great.

Great protection at a price
Great protection but a little heavier than previous versions. With aluminum liner can't use Velcro seal. But much better than any hard-sided canister!I repackage all my food into zip-locks. Doing that, I can get 5 days of food - including bulky sandwiches for lunch - into this. With a few changes, I probably could get 6 days in.

Darn tough!
This thing is pretty darn tough. It will not hold the amount of food items that it claimed, but I do already like it much more than my hardside canister, and I haven't even used it yet. Will also help keep my pack weight down.Delivered on time as promised.

Seems pretty tough and is easy to use
Hopefully one day this will be approved for use in Yosemite and Kings/Sequoia. In the meantime used in Zion as so much lighter than a cannister and offered more protection than other sacks. Seems pretty tough and is easy to use.
