We found that trying to remove the cap to the salt container in our Siemens Dishwasher was a total pain, as hardened salt would get into the inner thread and make removal of the cap very difficult.So when we had our unit serviced under warranty by Siemens, we pointed out to the engineer our problem. He suggested a food grade silicon grease, so looked in Amazon and found this. Lots of other food grade type grease available but this looked to be just what we should use.Took a couple of weeks to arrive from Germany, but when received we tried it straight away on the salt container cap inner thread. Very easy to use and dispense and whilst this is a small tube, take care when squeezing the grease out as a little goes a long way. So applied to the cap thread and mating face and fitted the cap back into place. To date we have removed the cap twice to replace the salt, with no problem whatsoever. Plus the grease coating has remained in place due to it's temperature rating.So for us this is just what we were looking for, very impressed.
