Tatters: Extreme Horror

Was okay for a quick read, not shocking
Maybe I’m desensitised or mentally ill but I found the book boring not shocking, wasn’t really any more graphic than a horror film. And really short I think 80 pages. But it was well written & good for a quick read, I’d recommend it I just wouldn’t warn people that they’d be horrified or shocked by it. I want a book that’s going to make me horrified ( playground didn’t do it either 😕)

Not what I was expecting (in a good way), just wish it was longer
Tatters by Ash Ericmore. As always with any Ash novel you literally never know what you’re going to get. In my head it was going to be a simple sick / violent killer clown book, weirdly it was not. It’s actually a short book about a guy who takes part in the weird ‘dressing up as a clown to scare people’ craze from a few years ago (ah how I miss those FB posts) and how he deals with the disappointment of not always getting the reaction he was hoping for. While also dealing with the problem that following a head injury he now has an imaginary aggressive clown follow him round and guiding him (usually not well) in life. I loved the concept and humour of this book. While it is nasty and horrible in places it wasn’t as upsetting as Ash’s Carnie books and probably a good gauge for if this author is for you or not (although he does do standard non-nasty horror as well). My only complaint would be that it’s too dam short, I’d have loved the story and characters to have been fleshed out a bit more. But I still loved it.

Nice easy read
This wasn't a bad story, was harsh in a few places as to be expected from an extreme horror. A descent storyline, but easy to see where it was heading. A man whom had a long habit of doing things but urged on by a very close friend. Clowns getting nasty. Good for a short journey or to pass an hour. Will keep you entertained and was a nice easy read. Different
The suspense was good but wouldn't go the the extreme saying that its extreme horror.Read out of curiosity due to a tiktok review and it wasn't as bad as the man made out but it wasn't terrible. If you have a curious side, definitely a read.

Not worth the hype
Read this off the back of some reviews that claimed this was the most shocking thing they'd read. Either I'm completely desensitized or their shock threshold was incredibly low because I found it quite boring. The characters were nothing new and could have been developed, the gore is tame if you've read the likes of American Psycho - overall underwhelming

You go Tatters
A very fun quick read, not as extreme as the cover would have you belive, but its deffinatly a good intro book to the genre. A very english book, which may not be for everyone, but i loved it. I know the area the book is set in and the use of swear words and slang added a nice familiarity to tatters for me.I will be adding more Ericmore to my tbr for certain.

Killer Clown!!
Harold is an “old school” clown, who likes nothing more than jumping out of the bushes at night (in full clown gear) and scaring people. One night, things don’t go swimmingly for him, and he is attacked. From then, Harold, along with his “friend” ‘Howdy The Magnificent’, go out to seek bloody revenge, and “bring back the fear!”I used to be scared of clowns but I’m obsessed with the ones we meet in Ash Ericmore’s books. I really feel for Harold, who is lonely, and obviously has some serious issues, but also a decent heart. This is a great little novella, which isn’t full on extreme, which we have come to expect from the author, but it still has some triggers, and a fare bit of gore. You also get to see into the life of a clown and can really empathise with Harold...well I could anyway.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Available NOW!

Short, sweet and not extreme
This story is a cute story, it’s worth reading and is a super fast read as it is only about 75 pages or so. I was able to read the whole thing while waiting for my tires to be rotated. However, it’s not “extreme” anything, and I really don’t even think it was trigger warning worthy. None of the scenes were any worse than what you’d get from the movie Scream or from American Horror Story. So it’s a cute story, but it’s not really “horror” nor is it “extreme”.

Bleak yet fun
It's grimy, bleak, darkly funny, chaotic and beautiful, I loved everything about this story. Clown horror is where it's at.

Ash knows how to tapdance perfectly on the fine line of horror and humor!
I love Ash Ericmore's humorous horror style so much. I find myself laughing in the midst of a really depraved scene and I just love that. Its a delicate blend and I think Ash walks that fine line perfectly. Tatters is such a fun extreme tale of a clown who just wants to make people fear clowns like they once did. No one takes this clown (named Tatters after an unfortunate incident with a dog) seriously, but they certainly should because Tatters only has one thing on his mind: rekindling the flames of fear in suburbia.

pretty decent but had its flaws
I’ve read a good handful of splatterpunk and I think I saw a brief mention of this somewhere and decided I’d read. I almost DNF’d this because of the diction that the author used and a few spelling errors. There wasn’t much of a storyline aside from ‘no longer scary clown goes on a killing spree because of the person in his head telling him to’

fun read
This book isn’t the most messed up horror I’ve read, but it wasn’t bad! I didn’t quite understand the ending but that’s not for me to know. I had fun with this read though 4/5 stars
