Q: is this challenging for a 7 year old who loves lego

My is 5 years old & he is no longer finding it challenging, not enough pieces to build. I think the issue is you need lots of pieces to build something challenging but lots of pcs means lots of money. :-( My daughter (2 1/2) is playing with it right now. Hope this help.

I think the 48 piece would be sufficient if you already have the 32 set. My granddaughter loves them.

I think a 1.5 year old is not quite ready. Since these are rather expensive, I'd wait till a child's imagination develops more fully.

Hello Jerry,Thank you for your question. Yes, the DX (Deluxe) Sets include a wheeled chassis, arch, door, door frame, hole-punched triangles, and 2 imagination pieces. These are in addition to the 3 types of triangles (equilateral, right, and isosceles) and 2 size squares (small and large) that are in each set. Each Magna-Tiles set by Valtech is compatible and available in 2 styles - Clear Colors (translucent and colorful like stained glass) and Solid Colors (opaque with 2 colors per tile).
