An earthy and rich dark organic coffee at a reasonable price
I bought a bag of this coffee when it was offered at a discount and I've now finished the entire bag. I've enjoyed it, quite a bit.I've ground some of it for coffee and some of it for espresso, and it works well either way, although I generally would prefer a medium roast for espresso and I think that this does better as regular coffee. It is a dark roast, and has a nice rich aroma. It's got an earthy flavor that goes down smooth, with just a hint of a bitter aftertaste. I've had it black but it is better with a bit of cream. It seems to be fresh, although there is no indication on the bag of when it was roasted.I drink a lot of coffee, enough that I own a couple of espresso machines (one at home and one at work) and I am discerning enough that I generally won't drink instant or pre-ground coffee. On the other hand, I'm not really an expert and am better at saying what I like than describing it precisely. I have had coffee I prefer over this one, but it is usually more expensive. This is better than anything I've bought at the grocery store, however, and it's a good price for a couple of pounds of coffee beans. I would probably buy this brand again.

Deep, Rich, Organic Coffee
I love to try new coffees and I am a fan of dark roasts. The Tolima coffee gave me the coffee experience I crave with no disappointment. When I opened the bag, I was struck by the full, rich aroma of roasted coffee beans. The aroma got even better once I ground the beans. The beans are dark and shiny. They are a uniform color and a uniform size and shape. The Tolima Coffee is an extra dark roast, but does not have the burnt aroma or taste that you can sometimes get with a dark roast. The brewed coffee is rich and dark with a smooth deep coffee tasted enhanced by hints of chocolate.I have brewed this coffee in French press, in a stainless pour over, and in a small batch of cold brew. I drink my coffee black with no cream or sweetener to hide its flavor (or to mask any shortcomings). This coffee passes all tests with flying colors. The only downside: There are no roast dates, expiration dates, best by dates, or any other dates whatsoever on the packaging. The coffee tasted fine, but it’s nice to have some idea of freshness and/or shelf life.I received this item at a discount in exchange in for my review. I base my reviews solely the quality of the product and whether it performed as expected. I do not consider price because prices on Amazon can change rapidly and perceptions of price/value can vary widely among different individuals. I leave it to buyers to decide what price they are willing to pay for the product as described. My review focuses solely on whether the product is as described. I rely on Amazon reviews to make my purchases and I update my old reviews periodically to reflect any changed opinions or experiences.

Truly a great gourmet dark roast
If you have ever wanted to experience a truly gourmet coffee experience, this coffee presents a great opportunity. It is a dark roast, but is not smoky or having a burnt taste. The flavor is smooth and robust, the way coffee is supposed to be. When first opening the bag, the room will fill with a wonderful aroma of coffee that only increases in intensity as the beans are ground. This coffee is grown in Colombia and is now one of my favorite Colombian coffees and I have extensive family ties with Colombia. My wife is from Colombia and we travel there quite often. I thought I had experienced all of the truly gourmet coffees of Colombia, but this Negro dark roast is a truly great gourmet dark roast that is roasted to perfection…a dark roast with no smoky or burnt aroma or taste. I love this coffee and highly recommend this coffee…you will not be disappointed. I was able to purchase this item at a discount in exchange for my honest review. Please note I have no relationship with this seller, I’m not compensated in any way, and I have no obligation to give any product a favorable (or negative) review. I put a lot of research, time and effort into my reviews, and I sincerely do my best to write reviews that are unbiased and that represent my honest opinion. I give products the rating I feel they deserve based on my experience with the product and compared to other similar products. I do almost all of my shopping online and always read reviews of a product before I purchase, even products I review I purchase because I, or members of my family, have a want or need for and the products will be used. I rely on the reviews of others just as much as you do! I review a lot of products that I don’t receive any discounts on and don’t show any favoritism when reviewing simply because I paid less than the current price for an item. I wouldn’t want to be misled and I certainly would never treat anyone that way.
