Trails of Truth by Pinky Anand and Gauri Goburdhun
The trials of the most henious crimes that shook the conscience of every Indian to it's very core. The trials that we wanted to know all about, while we were growing up, pouring over every bit of information we could get our hands on, newspapers, magazines. All of those trials discussed with an utter simplicity so that people from non-legal backgrounds can also comprehend the crazy loopholes, we all lawyers live for. Pinky Anand and Gauri Goburdhun, the mother-daughter duo, creates a perfect series of short stories focusing on the various cases, whose eluding details have long tormented the public. The signifcant portions of the Judgements are quoted in the exact right proportions. The arguments have been diluted to the extent that it can be easily absorbed with a bitter pill of the gruesome details of the cases. The book focuses on certain legal loopholes in our criminal justice system, on which amendments have been passed recently. It has a chapter dedicated to Contract Killers and what implications the cases had. Then there is a separate discussion on Indian female criminal minds, like Renuka Shinde and Seema Gavit, the Neeraj Grover murder case, among others. The discussions on the Nithari Kaand, the Nirbhaya Rape Case and the Tandoor Murder Case is extraordinary and enlightening. It's a must have for a law student or any legal scholar, and for civilians, this book lifts the veil of mystery cast over our indian criminal justice system.

Where's the legal aspect in this? Just a compilation of criminal events over the years. Any mediocre journalist could have written, in fact in better language
