This book is a summary of the author's (Mark Price Perry) experiences after working with hundreds of executives, PMO managers, and Project management practitioners over 25 years.I have learned from this book what a PMO is and what a PMO should do based on conducted surveys and best practices from successful PMOs accross the world (unlike the other PMO books that give theoritical insights).The insights and techniques helped me to understand how a successful PMO looks like and also added dimensions of experience & knowledge that will benefit both my team and myself.

Mark's latest Business Driven PMO book is a great combination of guidance and case studies. The first part of the book contains Mark's practical guide to driving success - identifying common problems and providing techniques that PMO and organizational leaders can implement to overcome those problems. This section should be mandatory reading for any PMO, portfolio or progam manager, and if it were then the quality of project execution organizations would improve dramatically.However, the copious (almost 30) success stories that follow really create something very special. With government, corporate and not for profit sectors represented, and with stories from all corners of the world, this section of the book provides real world examples of how to drive PMO success as told by the people who actually delivered that success. This isn't just theory, it's proven approaches that work, presented in a way that helps the reader understand why different approaches worked and how success occurred. There is something here for everyone and even leaders of effective PMOs will find opportunities here for further growth.The book is presented in a very accessible and readable style that makes it easy to access and embrace. It is a thoroughly entertaining and thought provoking read and is now also a go to reference for me.

Mark Price Perry once again offers invaluable PMO insights and guidance in this latest addition to his "Business Driven..." book series. Each of the 27 success stories lend unique real world perspectives to the foundational PMO elements of Mandate, Business Acumen and the future direction of the PMO.In particular, Marks opening discussion will provide many PMO practitioners with a new level of insight into the role of the PMO not found in much of the materials that are out there.
