This review is edited. I wrote initially with a positive review, however after further use it seems this product isn't as good as I first thought. I am having inconsistent results after 4 months; HDMI output only works when connected to the right hand side of my laptop - 2019 16" MacBook Pro. It used to work on the left side, but no longer does. It also sometimes has trouble reading and writing USB hard drives that work fine when connected direct to the USB sockets of my 2012 MBP. Only one of the two USB C ports works with my 2nd monitor (USB C - HDMI).An unnerving bit of force is required to mount and dismount this to the laptop. It gets quite warm. The colour is bang on. If mounting on the right hand side, it covers the headphone port, but that's down to the location of the socket rather than anything wrong with the adapter. Because of where the Thunderbolt ports are located on the machine, most of the adapter is just left hanging and can be easily wobbled or knocked, and doesn't feel very secure. For that reason I wouldn't recommend using it actually on your lap or whilst moving your laptop around, for fear of potentially damaging the sockets.In summary, was great at first, but the longer time goes on, the more issues I am having with this product. Assuming it is the product and not the machine.

It’s description is pretty accurate it fits, it’s fast, it maintains quality, + it’s fit for purpose; only reason why I gave it 4 stars is because it heats up pretty quick + I’m not sure if that will bring side affects. My MacBook is new + I plugged it in opened up logic inserted my midi instruments + interface thru the hub and in a matter of minutes it was quite hot. It’s a good device + I’ve only used it for a short while but I don’t think it’s fit for long use

Bought this and was initially impressed with the seamless design against the silver MacBook Pro (16").However, I use the laptop as a portable device and often use my USB wireless mouse so need the dongle and adapter to move with me. After a month of use, I started experiencing problems with my mouse. After some investigation, I found that the USB ports in the adapter were loose which was causing connection problems.I wouldn't mind so much if I hadn't made a conscious effort to minimise impact to the adaptor when placing the laptop down - I was always extra careful and gentle!Maybe I got a faulty one, but unfortunately, I cannot return as I'm 8 days outside of the returns window.

got this for me new MacBook Pro thinking it would solve all my port issues, WELL it did not. it basically felt like I was breaking my 2 usb c ports trying to plug it in and once it was plugged in it was as wobbly as anything. There are better options on amazon ( I just bought a cable version ) which is much better and cheaper

I have a snap on cover for my Mac book and have to remove the base to get full alignment as it is pretty greedy for space along the side. I have now purchased one with a flexi lead - so much better (but maybe not as easy on the eye)

This item was purchased mainly for connecting my SD card to my MAc. It was rarely used, however, soon the connectors seemed unstable, would often become disconnected. Then the cover came off. This wasn't worth the money as it never left the home and was treated extremely carefully. Now I have to find the money to replace this, so I am afraid I cannot recommend this as a product to purchase.

This is great for what I need it for - providing hdmi and some usb sockets.The important thing I keep forgetting is that it needs to be disconnected when MacBook is not in use otherwise it just drains the power.

Good product which allows me to use different features such as dual display and usb. Looks very sleek and fits my MacBook Air 13” perfectly. Only downfall would be that it get a little heated but none the less a great product for the price
