The name Swing-A-Way, simply put, is an American classic. The original Swing-A-Way, introduced in 1938, was a wall-mounted can opener with a bracket that allowed the strong sturdy unit to swing back against the wall of a butler's pantry when not in use, hence the name. In 1945, the company pioneered a gear-driven cutting wheel that revolutionized can opening. Great potato peeler!
This potato peeler is great! It can be used for right handed or left handed people. We have also used it on butternut squash. It is really sharp and works perfectly!

Sorry but it didn't live up to my expectations... It didn't seem to be as sharp as my old one...

Pretty much sucks
I bought this peeler at BB&Beyond, I needed a new one and I love my Swingaway can opener, this had to be good, right? Wrong, I just finished peeling 10lbs of potatoes for thanksgiving and this peeler pretty much sucks. It seems that if a slight film of potato builds up on the blade edge it simply doesn't peel, now by build up I mean 2 or 3 swipes and that's it. I would peel with a pull up motion and it would improve, clear the blade for another swipe or 2 but if I can find the cardboard backing it's going back, if not it's going into the trash.

This is a better version of an old peeler I had many years ago. It works just like the older one, and is comfortable in the hand.Makes peeling potatoes mush easier,

Works well, but...
I cook for my family. It is very sharp, peels well, and the tip is strong too. The cutting blade could be a little longer. The top of the handle jabs into the potato from time to time.

Great peeler
This is your basic peeler with a nice rubber grip. It is very sturdy and will last for a number of years. Bought it in addition to my current one which is 5 years old.

The handle is too lose, so I tried tightening it. For the price, I guess I shouldn't expect too much, but was hoping ...
