A good buy!
The media could not be loaded. ย The purpose, or more clearly the reason for buying a "Metal Attache case" was driven by the damage my expensive laptop incurred on its metal corners after falling out of my backpack (even with a leather protective case). I looked at several similar products and decided to roll the dice on this one, hoping the expense would be equal with quality. I can say I was not disappointed, and I think some people have higher expectations for aluminum cases. To be clear, this is formed aluminum, but the sheets used are not going to be bullet proof; it's not going to be 8 lbs of aluminum. This contributes to what some reviews consider poor quality hinges, but this is not the case (pun intended), and I have added a video. The hinges are very tart and smooth, and it is the material of the top and bottom of the briefcase that gives the impression the hinges are lacking. Another great feature is the lock, but lets be honest with ourselves, these TSA locks don't stop anyone. However, the instructions for setting the lock code was not as easy as some would like, so I understand why some people have challenges; everything will be okay if your smart. Oddly, I was more impressed by the handle, which smoothly folds down, was very sturdy, and doesn't wobble or have any play. Having worked in the spring industry, I understand how difficult these designs can be, and this was the weird feature that caught my attention. Also, the velcro straps are essential, and I tossed the egg-crate foam (Not very sturdy), and the other piece of foam. If you need egg-crate foam 4" thick for transporting electronics, you will want to toss this and by a better, laminated or other specialty foam. The foam included leaves FOD, and will easily degrade. Overall, a great buy.

Great case, poor locks
This case is the perfect size for what I needed. It is very sturdy and came with both foam padding and the top organizer. The latches are nice and feel very secure when snapped shut. There are a few issues however. First of all - the case came with a barcode sticker STUCK on it - I mean - really - could they not use a peel off sticker??? Obviously being an aluminum case you can't use anything to scrape or you will scratch the case -- so - alcohol, nail polish remover, goo-gone, and finally xylene solvent to remove the sticker and all of the sticky residue - and even now there is a very faint outline if the light catches the spot just right. The combination lock is very finicky - you can have it lined up on the right numbers and it still will not open - spin them all around some more and try again - sometimes it takes 3 tries to get it to line up just right so the combination part will open. I actually stopped using the combination lock because I was concerned it would reach a point where it would not open at all and I would have to force it and destroy the case. The actual key locks are very flimsy and I am sure you could open them with any small pointy object. So it works for my needs, but if you want a super secure case this is probably not your best bet.IMO it needs an overhaul of the key and combination locks. It would be worth it to pay more for this exact case with better quality locks.

Good quality for the price, includes removable foam inserts to convert to a business briefcase.
OK, to clear up the confusion due to an inadequate description from the manufacturer. It comes with the pick and pluck foam, which has a series of squares in the bottom foam piece that you can selectively remove by hand to form-fit something like a camera or a flux capacitor. On the top, it comes with a piece of eggcrate foam which does not have the diecut square pieces to pull out. So with this configuration, you can use it to transport sensitive items. Or you can simply pull out both of these pieces of foam and lo and behold, you are presented with a professional briefcase with an organizer panel on the top which has the usual things such as organizers for pens, papers, calculator, etc.

Very nice case but no key
This briefcase is very nice & seems well built. So far it has worked well for me. The only negative is that it did not come with a key for the locks and I can't find any information on how to get any. It seems a bit ridiculous to have locks with no keys. This is the only reason I didn't give it 5-stars.

The locking mechanism does not work
The case looks nice and the outside of the case besides a lil scuffs here and there is good quality. The inside however is pretty cheap and not worth the price. The locking mechanism needs to be recalled. It simply doesn't work. This case should cost no more than 120 and that's being generous. Only reason im keeping it is because I don't want to deal with the return nightmare.

Okay briefcase
This is a nice looking briefcase, also good size for storing large sized documents. Although the aluminum used is little thin. I would have perfered thicker/tougher aluminum and also I don't think it's fireproof.

Seller jimmy rigged the defective device to hide flaws and sold it with faulty locking mechanism.
The locking mechanism doesn't work because the metal attachment is loose. It appears as though the seller tried to rig it in place with a washer on just one of the two pins holding the attachment in place. This shows that the seller knew that one of the pins was not a good fit, and sold it anyway. This is not the quality that I paid for when I purchased this device.
